Cohen to Ressurrect the Mummy?

Does the world need another Mummy movie? Especially one directed by the mad genius behind The Fast and the Furious? Universal seems to think so! If the report that showed up over on TMZ are true, that is.

Rob Cohen is now in talks to helm of the third film in the Mummy franchise, something most of us thought would never happen after the hellacious bombing that was Van Helsing. The report mentions that Cohen may be agreeing to do a sequel, after making original blockbusters like Furious and XXX, because he’s got a lot to make up for after the disaster that was Stealth. I guess that makes sense in a Hollywood sort of way.

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have both expressed interest in returning to the roles in the past, which is a good thing as it’s about the only thing Fraser’s done (besides Gods & Monsters) that doesn’t make me want to punch him. Though to be honest I’m pretty sure he could take me in a "fair" fight.
