Butcher Brothers behind April Fool's Day remakeA few days back it was announced that Sony was launching a new production arm called Stage 6 Films, which would focus on smaller-budget output with the hopes of producing 10-15 titles per year. Today, The Hollywood Reporter got word that Stage 6 has signed on to distribute the remake of April Fool’s Day.

The Butcher Brothers (The Hamiltons) are directing the remake (it’s rolling in North Carolina as we speak), which tells of two super rich siblings (Taylor Cole and Josh Henderson) who put on a party for their friend, played by Scout Taylor-Compton of Halloween 2007 “fame”, at their sprawling mansion.

When one friend slips over a balcony and dies, however, it sets in motion a chain of events that will find each of the partygoers picked off one by one. Though anyone who’s seen the original knows how it all ends, Mitch Altieri (one of the aforementioned Butcher Brothers) told the trade, “It’s kind of more a twisting and turning story,” which may or may not mean they’ll keep the same finale. Hopefully they don’t, but one never knows. The Butcher Bros. wrote the script as well.
