Breathnach's Mist Exclusively Irish?
Just the other day we told you about Paddy (Shrooms) Breathnach’s next film, Red Mist, which is currently lensing in Belfast (“Shrooms Follow-up Gets Four” – February 2008), but at the time we knew zilch about it.
Of course, since them we’ve found out a bit more; B-D learned that the film is about a woman who will stop at nothing to get revenge on her cheating husband. Then this morning, reader Sam dropped us heads-up to a story over on Movies.ie, where Breathnach told them he’d be soon shooting a film that would be set in the 1690's and be entirely in the Irish language. Is this Red Mist? It’s unclear at this point, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we find out!
Paddy also told the Irish site that he wants to direct a vampire movie tentatively called The Counter Cowboy Rides Again, which he described as ”a Cronenberg/David Lynch film set in a western landscape.” I’m there!
Breathnach’s horror/comedy Shrooms is playing in a very limited release here in the States right now; the DVD is due out from Magnolia on March 25th. Click here to pre-order it now!

For all you horror freaks who feel there’s nothing to gain by getting out there and trying to make a movie on your own, your time has come! Massify and After Dark Films want to make it for you! A new competition launched this week from the two companies to snatch up an idea from anyone on the web and make it into a horror film. Sound crazy? It probably will be, but who knows; maybe something truly genius will come of it.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea at all really... I'm looking forwards to this.
