Blue Sky to Animate Anubis?

I would love to see a company like Blue Sky Studios do something other than kids’ animation, though obviously that’s where the money is, so when I read the rumor about them nabbing rights to small press book The Anubis Tapestry, I just had to share.

Slashfilm were the ones who heard about it through one of their insiders in Hollywood, so nothing’s been confirmed yet, but man it’d be cool to see the guys who did Ice Age and Horton Hears a Who tackle something like this;

”Anubis Rising is about a young lad who must become a mummy in order to rescue his father from the ancient Underworld. Along the way, we get involved with Mythxx creatures, a rivalry as old as time, horrific Goth-Beasts, and thirty Monsters guarding the thirty Portals of the domain of the dead, leading us to the Chamber of Anubis.”

Whoever heard of having to become a mummy to fight evil? Weird. We’ll keep our ears open for confirmation on this rumor, for now you can check out the official Anubis Tapestry site or hit ‘em up on MySpace to learn more!
