Beowulf Scribes Exit Black Hole

Earlier this year we discovered that Charles Burns’ interesting comic Black Hole, where teens undergo mutations via a sexually transmitted disease, was going to be adapted to the big screen by David Fincher. Then came eight months of silence.
MTV updated us on the situation thanks to an interview with co-writer Neil Gaiman, who teamed with fellow Beowulf scribe Roger Avary to adapt the comic.
It appears that the duo left the project due to Fincher’s work ethic. Gaiman elaborates, “David explained his process consisted of having over ten drafts, done over and over, and Roger and I were sort of asked if we wanted to, if we were interested in doing that. And we definitely weren’t.”
Depending on your opinion of Beowulf, this may have been rather welcome news, though Fincher does have the last script the two writers created … but the ultimate fate of Black Hole is up in the air at this point.
