The lovely and talented Kate Beckinsale is in talks to star in a new movie set in Antarctica called Whiteout, based on the graphic novel of the same name from author Greg Rucka, according to the folks at Production Weekly.
Shooting on the whodunit is expected to start up some time in mid-March up in Montreal and Manitoba with Swordfish helmer Dominic Sena in the director's chair. Seeing as how the setting is supposed to be Antarctica, Canada is about as close as I'd ever get, too. Beckinsale, if she were to definitively sign on, would play a U.S. Marshall on the trail of the first murderer in Antarctica, attempting to catch him before the sun sets on the continent for six months.
Personally I think it’s a waste of Beckinsale’s formidable talents to put her in a movie in which she has to be bundled up for the bulk of it, but perhaps the filmmakers have a plan. For more on Whiteout be sure to visit creator Greg Rucka’s official site, and keep it here for the latest on the film as we learn it!
Explain what talents you'd like to see Kate utilize in our forums!
