Art & Release Date for Dead Space Prequel
We first gave you guys word that EA Games and Starz Media were teaming up to make an animated prequel to Dead Space a few months back (“Dead Space Gets Animated” - March 2008). At the time specifics were sketchy at best, but finally we have a bit more to share!
First and foremost, the cover for the DVD release of the prequel, which seems to be simply called Dead Space: The Animated Movie. Click on the truncated version on the right to see the whole thing. Second, a release date: October 28th, 2008. This info comes via Amazon, where you can head to and pre-order it right now.
Finally, a plot! When a deep space mining operation discovers a mysterious alien Marker, they believe they have finally found evidence of our creators. However, the removal of the Marker unleashes a horrific alien species, which had been entombed within a remote planet, and a desperate fight for survival ensues. The story follows a select group of miners and crewmembers, as they are confronted with an evil like none ever encountered by man. The Dead Space animated feature serves as a prequel to the game and takes adult animated horror to a whole new level.
All right, not much of a plot, since that’s pretty much what the game is about, but it’s better than nothing! Still no word on if the animated prequel will air on any of Starz’s various channels, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear more!

Well, it might be another miner, who knows. It is a prequel after all.
And besides, everyone looks 95% cuter when they're anime-ed up.

Oct. 28th's going to be an expensive week. This, The Beyond, and the 20th Anniversary Box Set for MST3K all come out on the same day. And god knows what else will get released then.
