One deal that seemingly slipped through the cracks at this year’s AFM was Halo 8’s acquisition of James Farr’s animated Xombie series for both theatrical and DVD release. It’s all right because they just sent out official word with all the details.
The deal will see the episodic cartoon, which was downloaded millions of times during its run online and has spawned comics and illustrated novels, released on DVD in early 2009 right after it sees a limited theatrical release. Those who have followed the Flash-animated series online may recall that the first few episodes were somewhat crude, so there’s a good chance they’ll see a polish before they’re out.
Halo 8 will work with Xombie creator James Farr on additional adventures of Dirge, the first sentient zombie in a world overrun by the brainless-and-starved dead. No word on if this will tie in with the live action movie Farr told us about during New York Comic Con, but as soon as we find out more, we’ll let you know!
