Tino Struckmann talks Grave GoodsWhile at the AFM to promote their new film Brother’s War, screenwriter Warren Lewis (The 13th Warrior, Black Rain) and actor/producer Tino Struckmann (pictured, Redbelt) sat down with Dread Central to talk about a new horror film they’re shooting this spring called Grave Goods which is based on a recent true crime case.

“There was a well-known serial murderer convicted for several killings and he was doing time for it. This was back before the days of the internet,” says Lewis, “Earlier this year, they found some human remains by accident in a place where he used to live. There was always talk of additional victims that he wasn’t tried for and this new information became a career-maker for a lot of cops and forensic experts. Someone in this group of people was politically connected and got this guy to come out of prison and with the team – under close guard – to show them where the bodies were buried. And then something horrible happens there…”

”Grave Goods refers to the ritualized burying that this man did, the Egyptian method of burying personal items with someone so that they can take them over to the afterlife,” continues Lewis, “The real life killer was a very charismatic chap and that’s the fun challenge as a writer, to capture that.”

Lewis will also direct the feature and he assures us that he’s tried hard to stay away from the modern crop of remakes and gore films. “We’re not doing torture porn. We’re making a character piece that’s physically isolated.”
