For those of us who've been wondering what interesting indie horror projects we can look forward to in the coming year, the news broke today about one such film that, based on the parties involved, is high on my anticipation list.
Patrick Rea of SenoReality Pictures, which is based in Lawrence, Kansas, informed us that pre-production has begun on his second feature film, Nailbiter, with principal shooting scheduled for spring, 2008. Rea promises casting news is forthcoming and describes Nailbiter, which he co-wrote with Kendal Sinn and will direct, as "a horror film that combines classic monster movie elements set within the backdrop of unpredictable Kansas weather." Support for the project is being provided by local television company Free State Studios, a division of the privately held World Company, and Kansas City-based Take Two Entertainment.
I found a lot to like in Rea's first feature, The Empty Acre (review here), and the prospect of him directing a full-fledged monster flick really has me excited. Stay tuned for more details as we learn them!
