DVD Releases: April 14, 2009: Fear the Repossessed Splinter in the Forest of Death

It looks like a pretty good week overall. Mixed in with some fears from the Forest of Death are a Band from Hell (always a fun time), "The Lost Collection" from Lionsgate, a Playboy anthology flick, and the pick of the week - Splinter!

Splinter DVD Delay a Good Thing?

Maybe you didn’t notice it, but I know we sure as hell did; Splinter was supposed to hit DVD on January 27th. It didn’t. Why the hell is that, do you ask? No idea, but Magnolia will now be releasing Toby Wilkins’ badass monster movie on April 14th.

Splinter Soundtrack Now Available

You may not remember, but one of the six awards Toby Wilkins’ Splinter took home from Screamfest LA was for Best Musical Score, and I have to concur; the music in this film is very, very cool. You don’t have to take my word for it, though, because now you can get the Splinter soundtrack for yourself!

How sad that the actual DVD art for Toby Wilkins’ Splinter isn’t that much better than the fake DVD art that was floating around a few weeks back? DVD Active got a look at the art thanks to a trade publication, so it’s most definitely legit.

Toby Wilkins' Splinter is an original horror movie with no big name stars and has garnered positive reviews, so, naturally, it only gets a very small limited release. Like many of you, I'm dying to see Splinter but it isn't playing anywhere near me and odds are it probably never will. Take heart, folks, it looks like we won't have to wait too long for a DVD release.
