2013 South African HorrorFest Kicks Off 30 October; See a Free Screening of Insidious Chapter 2 on Halloween
Halloween season is upon us, and so is the South African HorrorFest. In its 9th year, the all-encompassing Fest has established itself as the ultimate Halloween event in Africa and has plenty lurking in its coffin for 2013!
Hitting its 8th year, the annual South African HorrorFest film festival is coming up quickly (it runs 24 Oct-2 Nov), and the full lineup and event schedule have been announced. It's one of the biggest we've ever seen!
The Bloody Parchment short story competition was established as part of the South African HorrorFest in 2010, and now eKhaya has compiled a collection of stories from the 2011 submissions into Bloody Parchment: Hidden Things, Lost Things, and Other Stories.
Hitting its 8th year, the annual South African HorrorFest film festival has announced it is now open for entries. They plan to bring the house down at the Labia Theatre, Cape Town, across the coming Halloween season (24 Oct-2 Nov 2012)!
The 2011 South African HorrorFest has come to an end (it ran 26 October through 4 November), and we have the full list of feature film and short film winners. In addition, the HorrorFest Team has informed us that this year's new additions of the Alternative Market and link-up with the Cape Town Zombie Walk will definitely return in 2012.
One film festival I'm bound and determined to make it to one of these years is the South African HorrorFest, but for now I'll just have to live vicariously through those of you who live close enough to attend. And after taking a look at this year's lineup, I'm pretty sure that if you are in the area, you won't want to miss it!
The 7th annual South African HorrorFest Film Festival, which runs October/November 2011, is now open for submissions. If you have a feature film, a short film, or even a short story that you'd like to submit, read on for the details. Feature films will be viewed by the selection panel and, if chosen, will be screened at the S.A. HorrorFest, awarded Official Selection status.
Paul Blom, one of the organizers of South Africa's HorrorFest, dropped us a line with news about another project he's involved with: "Virus", a music video by Cape Town-based, female-fronted industrial-metal band TERMINATRYX that has been expanded into an even more involved short film entitled "Marked".
One filmmaker we've had our eyes on for quite some time around these parts is Rue Morgue President Rodrigo Gudino, and he dropped us a line today with an update on the worldwide tour he and three of his short films went on this Halloween season.
