Here at Dread Central we're big fans of short films, and we know most of you guys are also. Which is why we jumped at the chance to give away ten copies of Curious Stories, Crooked Symbols: The Short Films of Rodrigo Gudino, a collection of visionary short films from Rue Morgue magazine’s founding editor and publisher.
Out of one hundred plus entries, the ten finalists have been decided in the Halloween Horror Nights ‘Scary Good Film Competition’ contest. If you’re down for checking out all ten shorts, break out the candy corn and apple cider, settle in, and read on for the skinny!

Doors open at 7:00 pm (as does the wine and micro-brew bar) and admission is $7 – not a bad price to find out “Who Guards the Lifeguards?” (as the film’s tag-line questions).

Last week we brought you a look at filmmaker Gris Grimly’s Wounded Embark of the Lovesick Mind. Gris dropped us a line today with an update on filming and a behind-the-scenes look at this warped horror show.
Gris Grimly returns with another demented short film adapted from his own warped paintings, "Wounded Embark of the Lovesick Mind". The film, a surreal and nightmarish study of love and obsession, details a one-sided relationship between Lovesick and the object of his affection, Beauty. When it becomes clear that the girl wants nothing to do with her admirer, he turns to murder in order to preserve her beauty.
