San Diego Comic-Con 2010UPDATE: Due to unforeseen circumstances, this screening has been cancelled.

With the daily schedules starting to trickle out of the San Diego Comic-Con website this week, we wanted to give attendees some advance notice of a special screening of Albert Pyun’s long-awaited Tales of an Ancient Empire taking place on Saturday, July 24, and give one lucky reader a chance to win two reserved seats at the screening.

There will be two showings at the Hard Rock Hotel at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM on the 24th. We have tickets available to the earlier show, which includes a meet and greet with the stars including Kevin Sorbo, Victoria Maurette, Melissa Ordway, and more with free food and beverages starting at 7:00 PM.

To enter, just hit us off with an E-MAIL HERE that includes your FULL NAME AND MAILING ADDRESS. We’ll take care of the rest and will notify the winner by July 20th.

Here’s how Pyun describes the setup:

It will be open to the public, but due to the space the HD screen system and sound system take up, we’ll likely only have seating for around 80 guests. And we configured the seating design for maximum visual and audio sweet spots. It’s technically screening in a way no other film has ever screened. For instance, with the retinal optimization, we have a few 3D sequences where the viewer doesn’t need glasses so it will be a bit of a surprise when 3D suddenly appears. The sound design required custom speakers to be built, and we had to hire structural engineers to make sure the Hard Rock could withstand the sonic design. Again, it’s not because of the volume but the specific low-end frequencies we are using, which are below the threshold of human hearing. But they will be strongly felt.

Sounds like quite the experience. Even if you don’t win passes from Dread Central, keep your eyes open for the half dozen or so scantily clad warrior girls and guys that will be walking around the convention center with more info on the event.

Synopsis:
Kevin Sorbo, Christopher Lambert, Melissa Ordway, Whitney Able, Jennifer Siebel-Newsom and Lee Horsley (star of “The Sword and the Sorcerer”) topline the cast, which includes Janelle Taylor, Sarah Schultz and Inbar Lavi. Pyun also reunites with genre veterans Ralf Moeller (Cyborg) and Olivier Gruner (Nemesis), who appear in action cameos.

The sword and sorcery epic, written by Cynthia Curnan, tells the story of a princess forced on a quest to recruit the greatest warriors of the ancient world to save her kingdom from a demonic sorceress. But the odyssey to find them reveals a secret past for all.
