Scanners, one of the most iconic horror films of the Eighties from legendary director David Cronenberg (Cosmopolis, A History of Violence, The Fly), is heading to Blu-ray for the first time in a highly collectible limited edition steelbook thanks to Second Sight Films.
Scream Factory has been exciting horror fans every Friday by announcing more cult horror titles that they will be releasing on DVD and (possibly) Blu-ray next year. Not a whole lot of excitement this week, though, with their announcement of a pair of early Nineties direct-to-video Scanners sequels.
Here’s an interesting news item that joins the crush of Comic Con news. The Weinstein Co.’s Dimension Films is developing a TV show based on David Cronenberg’s 1981 cult classic Scanners and director Alexandre Aja will serve as executive producer.
With the seventh entry in Lionsgate’s Saw franchise currently shooting in Toronto, Canada in preparation for its October 22, 2010 theatrical release, Dread caught up with the flick’s co-scribe Patrick Melton to chat about the film as well as the other projects he and long-time collaborator Marcus Dunstan are working on.
