Lionsgate's doing something a little different with the latest poster for Saw 3D. They're asking fans to visit the Saw Facebook page, "like" them in order to see the poster, and then share it with their friends. The press release explains it a bit better:
Lots of goodies are hitting DVD and Blu-ray this week including the better than it should have been Saw VI, the second installment of Matt Pizzolo's Godkiller: Walk Among Us, Frank Henenlotter's return to form Bad Biology, and our pick of the week, Canada's claustrophobic Pontypool.
We tried to keep it quiet by not mentioning it in our Saw VI Blu-ray and DVD review, but this is the Internet. News not only travels fast, in most cases it's also bootlegged and popped up on YouTube.
Saw VI stands as one of the biggest surprises of the year for us here at Dread Central. We all thought it was Game Over after the abysmally ridiculous Part V, but director Kevin Gruetert and his team had other plans. The flick is getting ready to hit DVD and Blu-ray and we've got your details just waiting for ya!
Why am I writing an intro article for a new edition of Dinner For Fiends when I could be playing Left 4 Dead 2? For that matter, why did we waste an hour recording a new Dinner For Fiends when we should have been playing Left 4 Dead 2? Well, we did. So if you're not playing Left 4 Dead 2 and can fit this podcast into your schedule, then join Uncle Creepy, Foywonder, Andrew Kasch, and Matt Fini as we talk about the most recent horrifying offerings.
We first heard the other day about the Saw VI Soundtrack Tour that kicks off in early December in Minnesota but held off a bit on reporting about it while we worked out the details of a very cool contest we're running in conjunction with the event. Read on for the skinny.
"It's it's Halloween... It must be Saw!" is how Lionsgate has touted the latest sequels in the Saw franchise the past few years. They might need a new tagline when Saw VII in 3D comes out next year. This year, if it's Halloween... It must be Paranormal Activity. And a concert film starring a freaky looking dead guy. Not to mention Law Abiding Citizen and Couples Retreat, both of which easily outgrossed Saw VI.
While it's true that in most cases people root for the underdog, it's still a bit hard to believe how dramatically Paranormal Activity toppled reigning October box office champ Saw's sixth installment. But numbers don't lie, and although Saw VI is considered by many (including yours truly) to be the best entry in the series in quite some time, it still wasn't enough to stop the little juggernaut that could, Oren Peli's Paranormal Activity.
Here at Dread Central we typically wait until Sunday, when the final estimates are in, to report on weekend box office numbers. But the results from Friday are just too sweet not to pass them on to you guys.
The early buzz on Saw VI (review here) is that it's one of the better entries in the series so this latest contest opportunity ought to be of interest to those of you who concur with that assessment. Along with a signed picture of Costas Mandylor as Det. Hoffman, you can also win a certified special and valuable item that was used in the film.
Could it be? Could it really be? After the abysmal Saw V it seems that the sixth entry into this once flailing franchise gets things back in order and back on the fast track to Thrillsville! Stranger things have happened!

Despite the tagline for Saw V, audiences left theaters last year with only one thing to say: “I can believe how it ends.” But one year and another Saw later, the creators insist that fans will be much happier with the new installment.
The fourth TV spot for Kevin Greutert's Saw VI has arrived just in time to usher the film into theatres tomorrow. Are you ready to start playing games?
