Remake of Russian Horror Flick The Bride Snags Screenwriter Sarah Conradt

Here Comes the Bride… Again.

A mere ten months ago we first shared the killer trailer and poster for the Russian horror flick The Bride here on Dread Central.

It was awesome.

Go figure, less than a year later the American remake is moving forward. True story. But let’s not hate on remakes too much here today. We’ll survive.

But, yes, there is a Hollywood remake of the film headed our way with the writers behind The Conjuring franchise Chad Hayes and Carey Hayes attached as producers.

And today they hired a screenwriter for the film.

Wait, the screenwriters behind The Conjuring aren’t writing the movie as well? Nope. As of today, we have word via THR that Sarah Conradt will be penning the script.

Conradt hasn’t had a script produced yet but is well-known in the Hollywood circles for loved, yet-unproduced screenplays as Black Ice, Enigma, and Dead of Winter – which was featured on the Black List.

You can check out the trailer for the original film below and the amazing poster to the right. Then let us know what you think of this remake or the original.

The original film was directed by Svyatoslav Podgayevskiy and starred Vyacheslav Chepurchenko, Aleksandra Rebenok, and Igor Khripunov.

The Bride was released in Russia back in January 2017.

Synopsis:

Nastya is a young woman who travels with her soon to be husband to his family home. Upon their arrival, she can’t help but think that the visit may have been a horrible mistake. She is surrounded by strange people and starts witnessing strange, terrible visions as his family prepares her for a mysterious traditional Slavic wedding ceremony. More than the wedding preparations, can she survive the next few days?
