Another remake that the producer briefly discussed during Dread Central's set visit is the long-rumored Poltergeist project that has seen its share of problems over the last year.

While on a recent set visit for the upcoming supernatural thriller 7500 being helmed by director Takashi Shimizu, Dread Central had the opportunity to chat with producer Roy Lee, who gave us some insight on what's in the works for Spike Lee's Oldboy remake as well as the potential for new films in both the The Grudge and The Ring franchises.

See now this is a remake we can get behind! At two plus hours long, the original 1978 Irwin Allen disaster Bee-movie, The Swarm, was one of the single most boring cinematic experiences I can ever recall having. Really, it's insufferable. So why not redo a movie that sucks and deserves another chance. Please, Hollywood, make this your latest trend.

Roy Lee and Vertigo Entertainment continue to branch out from their Asian horror remake roots with a new thriller called The Mountain, according to Variety. Working with Legendary Pictures and Written Pictures, they’ve tapped Malice in Wonderland scribe Jayson Rothwell to pen the script.

It annoys the shit out of me when a film is announced in the trades but nothing’s said about what it actually will be about. Take the story on The Colony in this morning’s Variety; a long list of genre names is attached to it, but all we know is that it’s an eco-horror tale.
