Exciting ‘Friday the 13th’ News Allegedly Coming Very Soon, According to ‘IT’ Producer Roy Lee

Friday the 13th is an ongoing tragedy for the horror community. Due to persistent legal battles, fans have not seen a new film in the iconic franchise since 2009. While there have been plenty of attempts to revive the mask over the past decade, none have yet to slash their way onto screens. Today might change all of that. Bloody Disgusting podcast The Boo Crew has recorded a forthcoming episode with horror heavyweight producer Roy Lee who shares words of hope.

While the episode is not released to the world as of yet, the outlet has shared an exciting tease from the producer. Lee is responsible for some of the largest modern horror titles in recent memory, including IT, which has gone on to become the biggest horror hit of all time.

In conversation with The Boo Crew, Lee treads lightly into Friday the 13th territory. “That one is something that I would love to talk about. You may be hearing something by year’s end… on that front.”

It’s been thirteen years since we’ve seen our friend Jason Voorhees pierce theater screens. Just last month, however, the DREAD Podcast Network series Development Hell uncovered four nearly-made Friday the 13th projects for their Camp is Cancelled miniseries. From the Nick Antosca version of events to Jason in the snow, check out the Friday sequels that almost were right here:

Lastly, how do you feel about a potential new Friday the 13th on the horizon? Are you as excited as we are? Make sure to let me know on Twitter via @joshkorngut. I’m always around to chat about all things Jason Voorhees!
