Rogue Pictures

Ehren Kruger is back adapting novels for the big screen (you may remember his last one, Blood and Chocolate?) according to this morning’s Variety. The trade reports that Rogue Pictures has just nabbed Kruger’s adaptation of The Keep.

On May 30th, 2008, we’ll finally get a chance to allow our eyeballs to feast on The Strangers, the home invasion movie starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. The film has been delayed various times for multiple reasons, so personally I’m just glad it’s finally getting out in theaters!

The very cool folks at Rogue Pictures sent us over a batch of 20 stills from the upcoming May 30th release of The Strangers, which stars Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. Bryan Bertino wrote and directed the home invasion thriller that we’ve been looking forward to for a while now. Hopefully it’ll live up to its creepy ad campaign so far. Neil Marshall’s final pre-release Doomsday blog just appeared over on his MySpace page, featuring a ton of new pics from the film including the one you see on your right. That’s his wife, Axelle, in one of her two roles in Doomsday.

Doomsday is coming, we all know when (“Doomsday Gets a Date!” – January 2008) ... but what will it look like? What will the epic plague on Earth leave in its wake? Will the people who survived outside of the containment zone retain their humanity? Will the disease that drove the human race to near extinction be cured?

I really can’t wait for Doomsday. Neil Marshall’s track record to date has shown us a director who loves working in our genre and knows how to do it right and even though Doomsday isn't horror, it is post-apocalyptic and in my book, that’s close enough.

The Strangers is one of those rarer horror films that I’m sure, first and foremost, doesn’t want to be called a horror film. It came out of left field, though, seemingly being made under our usual introspective radar, and scooped up by Rouge before anyone knew what was going on. Today Rogue Pictures have dropped the official trailer for The Strangers, so of course we called it our own and put it in our Broadband section. So what are you waiting for?
