RIP

Rest in Peace: David F. Friedman

One of the most prolific horror film producers in the game has taken his final curtain call and is sadly no longer with us. You may not know his name, but we know you're very familiar with his work.

Rest in Peace: Kenneth Mars

Sadly on this day of love and warmth, we're heartbroken to report that the world as we know it just became a lot less funny. Another Hollywood great has passed on.

Rest in Peace: Tura Satana

Sad news to report today. Another genre icon is no longer with us. One who helped pave the way in film for strong female characters, thus inspiring women everywhere. It's with a really heavy heart that we report that the great and always sexy Tura Satana is no longer with us.

Rest in Peace Charles Sellier, Jr.

Unless you're a big fan of either Christian films or the old TV show "Grizzly Adams", the name Charles Sellier, Jr. may not exactly jump out at you. Though he didn't dabble in our genre much, he did give us one of the single most controversial horror films of all time, and it's with a heavy heart that we report he is no longer with us.

Rest in Peace: Toshiharu Ikeda

It's always sad to report on the passing of people taken before their time. It's even sadder when those taken are responsible for their own deaths. Evil Dead Trap was a strange little Japanese film that garnered a lot of notoriety here in the West. Sadly, the director of it is no longer with us.

Rest in Peace - TV Writer / Producer Del Reisman

2011 is off to a devil of a start, and tinsel town has lost another one of its best and brightest. Television writer/producer Del Reisman has passed away at the ripe old age of 86.

Rest in Peace Juan Piquer Simón

Another genre personality has passed away this weekend, and though you may not be familiar with his name, you very well should be with at least a couple of his films.

Rest in Peace Anne Francis

Another actress from Hollywood's golden age has passed on, leaving behind some truly classic films and a ton of television appearances, making her a staple for many growing up over the last five decades. Anne Francis, known by many television fans as cheesecake private investigator Honey West, died Sunday of pancreatic cancer in a Santa Barbara retirement home. She was 80 years old.

Rest in Peace Pete Postlethwaite

Another Oscar nominated actor and genre favorite is no longer with us, and though he's been taken from this world at an all too young age, he's left behind one hell of a film legacy.

Rest in Peace: Blake Edwards

Another of Hollywood's great ones has passed on as today the film community mourns the loss of one its most respected, honored, and prolific filmmakers, Blake Edwards.

RIP Jean Rollin (1938-2010)

Personally speaking, one of the most exciting times to be a genre fan was in the late 90's/early 00's when DVD companies were opening the floodgates of Euro horror - unleashing more than a handful of forgotten gems to Stateside DVD. It was also when I first discovered the works of French filmmaker Jean Rollin, an auteur whose work I've really grown to admire over the last decade.

Rest in Peace - Leslie Nielsen

The world today just became a lot less funny. It's with the heaviest of hearts that we report the legendary Leslie Nielsen is no longer with us.

Rest in Peace: Hammer's Queen of Horror Ingrid Pitt

Sadly, we have lost another icon whose contributions to the horror genre will always be revered. It's with a heavy heart that we report classic Hammer Films staple Ingrid Pitt is no longer with us.

Rest in Peace: Dino De Laurentiis

Few producers in Hollywood have been as prolific as Dino De Laurentiis. For decades the man pumped out tons of genre films, sometimes one right after the other. It's with a heavy heart that we report today that he's no longer with us.

Rest in Peace: Tom Bosley

A sad day for television fans across the globe as it's with a heavy heart that we report a staple of a lot of our childhoods, Mr. Tom Bosley, is no longer with us.
