Now this is a true gift. Just like they did with their stellar release of the original My Bloody Valentine uncut, Lionsgate has gone the extra mile for fans once again by not just delivering the Eighties slasher classic Slaughter High onto DVD, but by giving us the uncut version of the film to boot! Bless your black little hearts.

Marty Rantzen (Scuddamore) is the super-smart nerdy kid in school whom nobody likes. As a result the resident hot chicks (including a stunning Caroline Munro) and the jocks led by Skip Pollack (Iannaccone) are always harassing and playing jokes on the poor guy! On April Fool's Day one particular joke goes horribly awry and Marty ends up badly burned and scarred (the easiest way to get a cool looking deformed killer in the Eighties). Years later said jocks and hot chicks get invited to an -- unbeknownst to them -- unauthorized reunion at their now condemned old school. Who invited them? Who do you think? Before you know it, Marty's on a gore-soaked rampage, and bodies start dropping like flies.

Slaughter on DVD (click for larger image)It's that simple. People show up. They get killed. (How did the Friday the 13th remake get that formula wrong?) I love Eighties slashers, and this one in particular is a truly rediscovered gem. Slaughter High is rife with a surprising amount of nerd dong, lots of heaving boobs (sadly not Munro's), and some truly cool and inventive kills. Even Marty's look wearing a court jester's mask is memorable. Shit, dude, it also is home to a psychedelic zombie climax! What's not to like?

As with the rest of the releases in Lionsgate's "The Lost Collection", there are no extras here other than a trivia track and the theatrical trailer. Shame, too, because a commentary at the very least would have been stellar. Still, this is a must own for fans of Eighties slashers.

It's hard to go wrong with a movie like Slaughter High. Yes, it's dated. Sure, some of the effects look fake and cheesy, but that's all part of its charm. Don't hesitate! Take the advice of your old Uncle Creepy and get your hands on this once lost gem of a flick today!

    Slaughter High is a good chessy slasher movie. Its one of my Top 20 Slasher films.

    Has anyone ever read about Simon Scuddamore killing himself or the details surrounding his suicide? I've long wondered about that but despite the vast reaches of the Internet, nothing substantial's ever presented itself.

    Damn shame. He was great in this and could have gone on to do so much more. I haven't seen it in ages but I wouldn't mind giving it another watch, especially since it's no longer a truncated version.

    I don't know much about it myself aside from what I've read about it online in the past, but *allegedly* (and that's the key word here) he committed suicide via a drug overdose, and apparently it was due to serious problems he had with his dad. Again, that's only what's been alleged. That's probably as much as the public is going to know about his passing, if there isn't more info about it by now. It's just sad to hear that he killed himself at the age of 30; that's way too young.

    I haven't seen the movie myself but it sounds like a cheesy good time so I'm sure I'd enjoy it.
