‘Alone’: Brutal New Argentinean Trailer Reminds Us of ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’

We’ve got our hands on a brand new trailer for Alone, a brutal upcoming horror film hailing from Argentina.

In the film, Laura Garland has lost her husband in the war while she’s pregnant. She lives in a sprawling estate that has since been divided in two. But now the government contacts her, claiming she must occupy the whole house, and if she doesn’t, they will take it from her. With no other options, Laura leases the other half of the house to Ricky, an outlaw who brings violent trouble into her life. But Laura has other plans…

The trailer and storyline for Alone is giving us Pans Labyrinth vibes, and the filmmakers are outwardly comparing its style to that of Guillermo del Toro.

The cast of Alone features Araceli González, Miguel Ángel Solá, Fabián Mazzei, Mariano Martínez, Luis Machín, Mónica Antonopulos, Rodrigo Noya, Florencia Torrente, Mica Suárez, Tomás Kirzner, Alfredo Casero, Roberto Peloni, Peter O’Brien and Griselda Sánchez

Check out the Alone trailer right here:

José María Cicala directs Alone. José María Cicala and Griselda Sánchez writes the screenplay. Cinematography for Alone is provided by Juan Marcos Francisco and editing is by Andrés Tambornino.

This new vision of indie horror has already won the top prize at the Montreal Independent Film Festival. Subsequently, it snagged best film at the Berlin International Art Film Festival last year.

The produces behind Alone are comparing the title to Rosemary’s Baby, Crimson’s Peak and The Others. Some of these references are on full display in the trailer provided to us by distributor Black Mandala.

You may have clocked Black Mandala’s prior genre offerings like Pretty Boy, Road Head, and Ash & Dust.
