It appears as if someone is trying to tell the internet-addicted masses that chatting with complete strangers MIGHT actually be a not-so-smart decision, with all of the cyber-terror movies that have inundated us over the past few years or so. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even like to talk to one of those chat-salespeople on a large market site… it’s just creepy. Now, thanks to director Joel Soisson’s live-cam creeper Cam2Cam, yet another chapter to “caveat internetus” is upon us (okay, I made that up).

The movie starts with a beautiful American woman who is staying in Thailand and is cyber-sexing an unknown party – turns out the other party is a more than demonstrative female who isn’t shy about peeling off her clothes on camera. Unfortunately, the decoy here is that there is no woman on the other side of the laptop – she is merely there as a distraction technique to have our tourist’s computer commandeered, ultimately leading to a heinous murder at the hands of the “good-guy neighbor” in the apartment building.

We then move to our next unlucky excursionist, Allie (Tammin Sursok), who decides to movie into the same apartment where the last resident was killed. (The real reason why she is there will be revealed later – NO spoilers here!) She immediately runs into a group of occupants that appear to be on the up-and-up but have that slimy exterior to them that makes you want to keep your distance.

Well, Allie’s better judgment is quickly kicked to the curb as she becomes fast friends with Marit (Sarah Bonrepaux), a fiery redhead who shows Allie the sights of the city and brings her a little deeper towards debasement by telling her that if she’d like to make some quick dough, then a few live shows on a perv-website is the ticket. Her initial resistance slowly wears away due to the smooth-talking Michael (Ben Wiggins), who instantly throws on the Brit-charm towards his latest potential conquest.

As the movie rolls along, we learn that the happy little tourist welcome-wagon is up to something more maligned then just aiding a Yankee that’s on a fact-finding trip from the States. The deceptive band of foreigners have a little more than that up their collective sleeves, and THAT, regrettably is where the film takes a downward spiral into something you’d catch as a sub-story on an ABC Family movie warning teens about the dangers of cyber-bullying.

The first 20 minutes of the movie had me stuck to my seat, as I was engaged heavily with the internet-stalker theme, but as the paper-thin layers of cheesy motives and less-than-intelligent thought patterns took over, I was ready to tune out. Aside from some pretty ladies and a semi-interesting twist towards the close of the film, I’d most likely recommend you pull the plug on Cam2Cam as there isn’t enough power to supply this crashing site. Please remember to log out when you’re finished.
