Holy shit. What more can be said about Black Devil Doll? The little movie that could (offend everyone) has caused quite a stir throughout the country and abroad, and now it's finally coming home to foul your DVD collection with its special brand of militant tomfoolery.

The story in a nutshell revolves around a busty babe who inadvertently contacts the spirit of a black militant murderer/rapist through a Ouija board, thus opening the door for it to come and live in her toy puppet. From there, more rape and murder ensues along with tons of sex, explosive shit-fits, and humor as subtle as a dirty dick swinging in your face. For an in-depth look at the storyline and the film, check out Steve Romano's Black Devil Doll review here.

It's nearly impossible to rate this film on the normal scale of good and bad. In terms of how much of a blast it can be, it's an easy 5 out of 5, and Romano's review reflects that perfectly. What I've done is broken it down over and over in my head. Taking everything into consideration, Black Devil Doll still comes off as an above average little flick that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not. It has a few pitfalls here and there, a few scenes go on for a little too long, and some of the jokes peter out a bit after a while; but overall this is an exercise in blissfully tasteless over-indulgence -- and a damned fine one at that.

Jonathan Lewis' Black Devil DollAnd holy shit is this DVD packing. Things kick off with five commentary tracks, the two stand-outs of which are the Black Devil Doll's himself and a fan track featuring “a group of kids who were traveling around, flying, and renting cars to see the movie”. I kid you not. These kids are fucking hilarious. Really good stuff. From there we get rare footage from the infamous dildo tossing event that I took part in before the New Beverly Cinema premiere (that's right, fuckers; I get all the classy LA gigs!) along with fan interviews and an interview with director Jonathan Lewis. I've never seen a crowd so cock-hungry. It was amazing. Where was I? Oh yeah! The supplemental features! Moving on ... there's just so much stuff, man. More festival footage, more interviews, still galleries, trailers, three insane animated cartoons featuring the Black Devil Doll in various situations including sticking it to the MPAA, and even a mini-poster! You just can't go wrong!

However, if you still can't get enough, there's an equally as funny and somewhat mind-bending novelization of the movie written by Stephen Romano. This is no cheap attempt either; it's the real motherfuckin' deal. Seriously, if you're a fan, you need this. You have to have it. I swear! Just get it, you cheap friggin' douche. You'll thank me later.

And there ends the first chapter in the phenomenon that has become the Black Devil Doll; who knows where Lewis and the gang will be going from here? There's a rumor that outer space could be involved. Wouldn't that be a trip! One thing's for sure. We'll be watching and takin' in every step that motherfuckin' puppet makes. Don't wait another second! Help stick it to the man by ordering your shit below.

Avid Fan is an Avid Loser. What a sad, humorless clown.

Is the flick flawed here and there? Sure. But who cares when you're being entertained at such a high level?? Not only one of the funniest movies I've seen in years, but one of the funniest movies I have EVER seen. And it's so obvious to anyone that knows the slightest thing about film making, that the "cheese" in this movie was so obviously and meticulously crafted by people that know exactly what they're doing. It's a masterpiece of lowbrow sleaze.

Sean, you and your team did a bang-up job and I can't wait to see what's next from you guys.

This is one of the worst films I've ever seen, on all levels. Pure Fail in my book. Painful to watch, shit acting, bad dialogue, horrible photography, repetitive scenes. What was potentially funny once, lost the humor after the fourth time. It would be tasteless and shocking, if it wasn't so cheesy and poorly executed. Over-indulgent, yes, but not in an enjoyable way. It's like a hard R version of a Full Moon Puppet Master style movie, which conceptually could be entertaining, but falls flat on it's bad boob-jobbed face.
