Rated M for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language & Suggestive Themes

The Walking Dead comics offered up a whole new experience on surviving the apocalypse. In the video game transformation of The Walking Dead then we follow one survivor named Lee Everett who has broken free during a prison transport. He enters the world of the undead and tries his best to survive the attacks of the hungry flesh eaters—while also trying to hide his real identity.

When the police car Lee is being transported in wrecks into one of the walkers then he is soon found scurrying to exit the car before he becomes one of them. Every decision made in the game has dire consequences on what happens in the future. You are given mere seconds to make the decision and then you have to live with what happens because of it. There are many side-quests in the game based on how you approach each new decision. After barely escaping the wreck and zombies with only minor wounds then Lee happens upon a six-year old girl named Clementine.

Aesthetically, you will feel like your inside one of the comic books with the painting-like textures applied throughout. The voice acting is phenomenal and the dialogue perfectly captures the essence of each character allowing you to become more immersed into their world. In navigating throughout the world then you will notice you have a simple command list that anyone can use. The game provides a guided experience and all of the objects and characters in the game that can be interacted with will be displayed with a list of commands. This means that if there are puzzles or interactions for you to complete then you will easily know.

The game focuses on the relationships that are formed and the tough decisions that have to be made. Combat is QTE based which gives the game a more realistic feel. As you stumble for weapons then you really feel that you are about to become a zombie feast. All of the possible outcomes for every decision gives the game great replay value, because you will want to play each one over and over just to see what would have happened if you had done something different.

The Walking Dead: Episode 1- A New Day brings a glimmer of light into the dark heart of any horror fan. The storyline is so impressive that you will start to feel anxious knowing that the episode is about to end. The Walking Dead game gives new depth to the characters that you have grown to love from the comics, and adds a whole new interactive experience that will have you aching for more. This is one game series that will emotionally draw you in to the point that you never want to leave.

The Walking Dead released on April 25, 2012 for PlayStation 3 and PC and April 27, 2012 for Xbox 360. For more information on the game, check out the official Telltale Games website.
