She Loves Me (Short)

artwork-coming-soonStarring Matthew Bannister, Maria Nicole Held

Directed by Andrew Michalski

An idyllic picnic between two potential lovebirds goes awry, then takes a completely unscheduled left-hand turn in Andrew Michalski’s She Loves Me.  Can’t anyone date a sane person anymore? Just wondering.

Matthew Bannister and Maria Nicole-Held are the only two on camera here as Ben and Kat, and we witness them in their awkward splendor in an after-hours rendezvous in a daisy field… by the way, you should NEVER pick the daisies. Simple nervousness and shy emotions rapidly turn when Ben officially declares himself bat-shit nuts and whips out a serrated machete that would make Mr. Voorhees proud.

The runtime on this quickie clocks in at a manageable 14+ minutes, and the majority is spent in stalk and slash mode, with Bannister racking up the looney points (pretty solid performance as the nutcase).

Not much more to offer without spilling blood… I mean details, but I can provide this: This one WON’T end the way you think it will. Definitely one of the stranger conclusions to a film that I’ve seen in a bit, be it long or short in presentation. Michalski plays this one out simplistic in nature and then promptly smacks you in the face with the WTF? mallet.

A fun little watch, but a word to the wise: Please don’t spring this one on a potentially new girlfriend… just don’t.
