Incredibly sad news as composer Daniel Licht, who was known to many as the composer for Showtime’s long-running series “Dexter” as well as the man behind the music for Silent Hill: Downpour, has passed away at age 60 after a battle with cancer, according to Variety.

“Dexter” executive producer Clyde Phillips commented, “Dan was an incredibly talented musician and composer, but most of all, he was a dear friend. His passing leaves all of us a bit quieter, a bit sadder, and without the gift of his music and his love.

Licht was also the composer for films such as Hellraiser: Bloodline, Thinner, Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest, Dishonored, and Amityville: It’s About Time, amongst many others.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Daniel several years ago prior to the release of Silent Hill: Downpour, and it was an interview that I cherished. To this day, that soundtrack remains one of my favorites in the series and one that I return to on a regular basis.

We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends in this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Daniel. Your music brought joy and terror to many. Thank you for melodies that will live on forever.
