At some point in the year 2010, it will be winter. And even mass murderers need to suit up for such an occasion, as well as keep their pot neat and clean from those pesky snowflakes.
Like everybody else, I was amazed to see Platinum Dunes’ Friday the 13th remake hack its way to a $40 million opening weekend earlier this year. Audiences were ready for the triumphant return of Jason Voorhees, and box office receipts proved as much.
Screenwriter Josh Stolberg has got to be having the best year of his life right now. One of his projects, Sorority Row, is currently is post-production and another script of his, Piranha 3D, is currently being filmed under the helm of Alex Aja in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Violence! Mayhem! Fish with teeth! Bodies shredded! We really like what we're seeing coming out of Arizona lately as another set of behind-the-scenes photos have surfaced from Aja's 3D Piranha, this time depicting a healthy bit of carnage!
Who here remembers the 1986 metal-driven horror classic Trick or Treat starring Gene Simmons, Ozzy Osborne, and Skippy from "Family Ties"? Anyone?
I guess it’s not surprising to hear that Leonardo DiCaprio is Todd McFarlane’s number one choice for the lead in a Spawn reboot (there’s that damn word again). These days comic adaptations are the rage, and top-tier Hollywood talent has been all over the recent trend, often translating into box office gold.
Tobe Hooper's under-appreciated slasher opus The Funhouse is a huge favorite here around the Dread Central offices. The flick had it all -- gypsies, sex, good kills, a great location, and most importantly a badass looking monster who wore a Frankenstein's Monster mask until his, um ... unveiling. From our point of view this remake is a no-brainer and it seems as if director Eli Roth feels the same way!
In a world populated by shit we do not want to watch, we cannot recommend enough tracking down a copy of the classic film Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires. We're talking one of the original chop-socky vamp flicks ever delivered to us by Hammer and starring Peter Cushing as Van Helsing! Ah, the simple joys of it!
Some more behind-the-scene images popped up online today from Aja's remake of Piranha that show off quite a bit of skin. Not-eaten-by-angry-prehistoric-fish skin.
Now this is how we like to wrap up a Friday! One remake that I'm actually looking forward to is Louis Leterrier's version of the creature-laden classic Clash of the Titans, which is filming as we speak. To take us into the weekend, we now present to you another, much more badass still of Sam Worthington as Perseus. ROCK! Special Features
With the DVD and Blu-ray release of Platinum Dunes' Friday the 13th (2009) just around the corner, the good folks at Warner Brothers have sent over several clips for you guys to dig into!
Never mind Linda Hamilton. To hell with Kate Beckinsale. Angelina Jolie be damned! Piranha star Elisabeth Shue will twist you thin little lassies up into knots using nothing but her sheer brute strength!
Reboot. Redux. Remake. Relax. It's all the same crap, isn't it? Entertainment Weekly got word tonight that a potential reboot of Wes Craven's Scream franchise is in the works.
Sure, it sounds like good news at first. Kurt Wimmer, the man responsible for the inexplicable cult favorite Equilibrium (and Ultraviolet, too, just to prove he’s not infallible), is attached to write a remake of Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 classic Total Recall.
