Toronto After Dark Names First Eight Films!

The Toronto After Dark Film Festival has announced the first batch of new horror, sci-fi, action, and cult feature films that will be shown at the festival this October 17-24. It's quite an eclectic list -- one that sure makes me wish I lived a little closer to Toronto!

    Red Trailer

For a while now you’ve been reading about Red here on Dread Central, and finally as its release date approaches, we’re getting more and more to talk about. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our Red review from Fantasia, which will hopefully make you look forward to it even more.

    Fantasia 2008: Days 11-13

Apologies for the lack of updates the past couple of days. I blame the exhaustingly stylized, rockabilly zombie movie Flick, which engendered so much cinematic bile, I feared the excess would leak into the other films I had planned to discuss.

    Magnolia Sees Red, New Poster!

Variety is reporting that Magnolia Pictures has swept up the distribution rights to the adaptation of Jack Ketchum's Red.

    The Horrors of Sundance

Honestly, traveling to Utah has never crossed my mind for any reason. It's just hard to have a passing thought of, "Hey! I should go to Utah because..." That was until STYD released a list of 11 horror and thriller movies that will be shown at next year's Sundance Film Festival.

    Suscos Sells Sanctuary

Grudge and Grudge 2 screenwriter Stephen Susco continues to make deals left and right in Hollywood and has faithfully stuck with our genre through it all. This morning it was announced that Lionsgate has scooped up a new spec script by Susco called Sanctuary, which is based on the novel Bad Men by John Connolly.

    Ketchum Adaptations Abound!

It's got to be a good time to be Jack Ketchum. The Lost (review) turned out to be a very faithful adaptation of his book and a great film to boot. The Girl Next Door has finished filming and by all accounts is sticking closely to the unsettling and provocative source material. So what's next on the adaptation block?
