Quarantine: The Loners Adaptation on its Way!No, we’re not talking about the third film in the Quarantine franchise. Instead we’re talking about the first book in the Quarantine trilogy that’s being adapted into a film franchise. My head hurts.

Variety reports that the Black Forest Film Group has acquired feature rights to the Hunger Games-esque novel Quarantine: The Loners by Lex Thomas, a pseudonym for authors Lex Hrabe and Thomas Voorhies, who will write the screenplay together.

Quarantine: The Loners is the first book of a trilogy being released by Egmont USA this July.

Described as a cross between The Warriors and Lord of the Flies, the action-thriller concerns the outbreak of a virus that is deadly to anyone after puberty. A typical American high school becomes a battleground after the military quarantines more than a thousand teens, who subsequently form violent gangs based on previously established social cliques. Instead of battling for popularity, the students must fight for survival. The leads are two brothers whose relationship is tested when a young girl threatens to come between them.

More as it comes. Can you dig it?!?
