THE PUNISHER Season 2 Making A Killing On Netflix In January

The second and final season of The Punisher will debut on Netflix in January. This was confirmed via a trailer released by Netflix showing all the new content heading to the streaming service next month, which ends by showing a grizzled Frank Castle getting into his Battle Van and driving off into the night.
Season 2 was filmed earlier this year in New York, and it will once again run for thirteen episodes. Because of the imminent launch of Disney+ next year, Disney has been forcing Netflix to cancel all their shows based on Marvel properties, meaning that The Punisher will almost certainly not be renewed for a third season.
As with all of Netflix’s Marvel shows, The Punisher takes place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But aside from the framed newspaper clippings in Karen Page’s office depicting the Hulk and a Chitauri Leviathan, and a passing mention of superheroes in the first episode, season one was light on references to the Avengers movies. One thing it was not light on, however, was gore. So don’t expect season 2 to hold anything back in the gore department either.
Jon Bernthal, who first played Frank Castle in season two of Daredevil, will once again appear as the marine who becomes a vigilante after his family were brutally murdered, with Ebon Moss-Bachrach as his hacker sidekick, Micro. Ben Barnes also stars as former marine Billy Russo, who was left hideously scarred at the end of season one, paving the way for him to become the villain known as Jigsaw. The supporting cast of season 2 will also include Amber Rose Revah, Jason R. Moore, Floriana Lima, Giorgia Whigham, and Josh Stewart.
Although it’s been confirmed for January, we don’t yet know the exact date when season 2 of The Punisher will drop, so keep an eye on Netflix next month.
