Prisoners
It's been a while since there was any movement on the once hot Hollywood script for the flick Prisoners. Everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio to Christian Bale to Mark Wahlberg to directors Bryan Singer and Antoine Fuqua were attached to it at one time or another.
Denis Villeneuve is getting some pretty impressive raves for his recent drama, Incendies, and he's looking to wade into significantly darker territory with his next project.
We've been reporting on Brooklyn born writer Aaron Guzikowski's Prisoners for quite a while now here on Dread Central, and along the way many huge names have been attached including Christian Bale, Bryan Singer, Mark Wahlberg, etc. There's just one problem -- despite the script being hailed as incredibly hot, for one reason or another nobody has officially bitten. Thankfully that very well could change!
And the name game continues for Aaron Guzikowski and his project Prisoners. Lots of names have been attached to it over the last few months such as Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and director Bryan Singer, but all have come and gone. Luckily it looks like a director has finally been nailed down.
In an interesting twist of fate, Aaron Guzikowski's hot spec script Prisoners has been acquired by Alcon Entertainment, but in the process its previously attached stars Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale have dropped off the project along with rumored director Bryan Singer.
The Endeavor project known as Prisoners just got a whole lot more interesting with the news that Christian Bale is a strong possibility to play the second lead in the film opposite Mark Wahlberg. A report came out of The Hollywood Reporter that while "the project isn't financed and the Wahlberg-Bale combo is fragile ... Bale is actually perfect for this -- it's a brooding, dark script."
Hey, Bryan. What's goin' on? It's good to see you. We hear that you have officially signed on to direct that movie you wanted. The one written by that kid from Brooklyn with Mark Wahlberg attached. What's that all about? Okay, well, it was great to meet you. Say hello to ya motha fa' me, okay?
