We've all been waiting patiently for Stevan Mena's follow up to his 2004 slasher flick Malevolence to arrive, and now finally via this latest trailer for Bereavement a release date has indeed surfaced!

Who in the world can fill the shoes left by Sigourney Weaver in the upcoming Alien prequels from Fox and director Ridley Scott? The list of names is long, but it looks as if the team behind the films are finally zeroing in on someone.

We're all waiting patiently for more news to start coming out regarding The Thing prequel, and while we try to remain optimistic our fears just keep creeping up on us, no matter how much we're told things are going to turn out good.

With every passing bit of news that comes across our desk concerning Ridley Scott's Alien prequel, I find myself losing more and more interest.

Now here's some great news to kick off your morning with. Despite reports of disagreements, etc, Ridley Scott's Alien prequel(s) are gaining some serious momentum! As per New York Magazine's Vulture:

A bootleg video of the trailer for The Thing prequel from the NYCC has just shown up online. It's ultra-crappy in terms of quality but if you're interested see it while you can!

Heather B. has reported in with more info on what went down at the New York Comic Con relating to The Thing prequel after chatting a bit with director Matthijs van Heijningen, Jr.; producers Eric Newman and Marc Abraham; and stars Ulrich Thomsen, Eric Christian Olsen, and Joel Edgerton. Mary Elizabeth Winstead didn't attend as she was off getting married instead (the nerve!).

One of horror fans' biggest concerns about the upcoming prequel to The Thing from director Matthijs van Heijningen, Jr., has been whether the effects will be mostly practical or mostly CGI. During a panel at this weekend's New York Comic Con, van Heijningen allayed fears somewhat by addressing that very issue.

It's hard to believe it's actually coming as up until now it seemed so far away, but yes, eight new stills from Matthijs van Heijningen, Jr.'s prequel to the John Carpenter classic The Thing have arrived!
