After a bit of a lethargic start, this Dinner for Fiends turns into quite the spirited little (Little? The damn show is 2 hours long!) podcast once the great Stoker debate of 2013 gets under way, which leads into the latest “The Walking Dead” debate of 2013.

You’ll also hear Uncle Creepy, Matt Fini, Andrew Kasch, Buz, and Foy discuss, debate, and/or deride Warm Bodies, The Call, Dark Skies, Beautiful Creatures, The Host, Phantom, “Bates Motel”, “Hannibal”, Tyler Perry’s Temptation(!), and last but certainly not least, the remake of Evil Dead.

Plus there's much, much more of the rambling nonsense you’ve come to expect.

I’m joined by Matt Fini for a special Foycast primarily about a pair of obscure, one-of-a-kind, underdog sports movies that must be seen to be believed. Fini and I spend about 20 minutes unleashing our mutual admiration society for the little-seen gem Diving In. What’s Diving In, why do we both love it, why should you see it, and why does it deserve more recognition than it gets? You’ll have to listen and find out.

Our second and even more obscure underdog sports flick is one Fini hadn’t seen (and he’s probably better off): Longshot, the world’s only motion picture (that I know of) about competitive foosball starring 1970’s teen sensation Leif Garrett.

Not enough crazy sports movies? I’ll also tell you a little about the world’s only post-apocalyptic snooker pool movie. The one where if you lose at shooting pool, you lose a finger!

You’ll also hear about Syfy’s Flying Monkeys (featuring “Skippy, the cockblocking demon monkey”!), summer blockbuster disappointments that helped make us the cynical bastards we are today, Crazed Cop, K. Gordon Murray movies, and more rambling nonsense.

You could probably turn this show off around the 65-minute mark and miss nothing, but we believe in giving you your money’s worth for a free show so there’s still 20 extra minutes of filler. And it wouldn’t be a Foycast without some minor recording issues, which you will begin to notice during this latter portion. I love Skype.

To hell with college basketball - this Foycast is marching into madness!

Uncle Creepy, Matt Fini, Andrew Kasch, and yours truly (Foywonder) got together to record a Dinner for Fiends without Buz and… Let’s just say we never truly realized how much he was the glue that held this whole thing together from a technical standpoint. However long this episode runs, the recording of it was more than twice that. The editing of this show was not that much different from the stitching of Leatherface’s mask. Skype experienced a cornucopia of technical difficulties constantly messing up our audio, disconnecting us, and, thus, interrupting the recording. Then my laptop began overheating and… Let’s just say you’ll detect increasing levels of exasperation in our voice once you get past the 10-minute mark when the fun began.

The Collection, Texas Chainsaw 3D, Mama, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, and “American Horror Story: Asylum” are our main topics. By the last half hour, after the 4,000th technical difficulty, we just start shooting the breeze about whatever loosely related topic we felt like as we awaited yet another meltdown.

Our pain is your pleasure.

I did a 107-minute long Foycast with Matt Fini about three weeks ago. That show has since been lost to the ages because the Skype recorder decided for whatever reason to not record the show even though it indicated that recording was on. A damn shame because that show, to be completely honest, was much livelier than this second show I did a week ago with Uncle Creepy.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you react to the show you’re about to listen to, it also fell victim to the curse of the Skype recorder. The show I did with Uncle Creepy ran nearly 80-minutes but shortly after the 40-minute mark the recording turned so wonky half the show became unsalvageable. You even hear some of those problems beginning when my voice briefly begins to echo. This forced me to edit the show with a very hard, very abrupt ending that pretty much comes out of nowhere.

Suffice to say that Skype recorder has since been deleted from my computer and replaced with what is hopefully a better version that destroy future Foycasts, because heaven forbid the world be denied the internet’s 227,000th most useless podcast.

So if 40-minutes of Red Dawn remake discussion and the horror that is Vampire Dog is enough to entertain you’ll probably enjoy this 12th installment of the Foycast.

I swear the next show will be much better.

Yeah, we’re really late with this show. But we all have good excuses. Fini and I both got hit with hurricanes in the time since the last show. Uncle Creepy’s appendix exploded and nearly killed him. Buz and Andrew, well, they don’t really have any excuses. Since we haven’t done one since September, we have a whole lot of ground to cover. How much ground? A super-sized edition of Dinner For Fiends that is as spirited as it is overdue, particularly when we get to Paranormal Activity 4 and… well… you’ll just have to listen for yourself.

On the menu today... The Possession, The Apparition, V/H/S, Cosmopolis, Total Recall, Juan of the Dead, Detention, YellowBrickRoad, Premium Rush, The Oogieloves, and the misadventures of a mystery movie shopper, just to name a few of topics we discuss.

Now the bad news… You ever been working on something and just get the sense that the vibe is all wrong? That’s how we were throughout this entire recording. By the end we were all convinced that this episode is going to go down in history as one of the worst ever. Buz was in a bad mood from the beginning and just seemed to be trolling the rest of us at times. Matt Fini was his usual mellow self though still quite bitter about the space baby. Andrew Kasch actually managed to stick around for most of the show but had little to contribute a lot of the time since he hadn’t seen anything but the newest Cronenberg flick that isn’t even horror. Me, I just wanted my money back from Uncle Creepy after he talked me into seeing The Apparition: better believe that got contentious.

So in addition to the sniping and bad mojo, there were also numerous technical issues (most of which have probably been edited out) and an overwhelming sense the whole show was going down in flames like the Hindenburg. Because we were so sure this Dinner for Fiends came out bad, I’m convinced it’s going to be one that you the listeners end up enjoying immensely. It just seems to work out that way.

Uncle Creepy opens the show with a lengthy walk down memory lane celebrating six years of Dread Central. From there he, myself, Matt Fini, Andrew Kasch, and Buz engage in a very lengthy discussion of Prometheus, very short discussions of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Battleship, somehow I ended up talking about The Amazing Spider-Man, and let’s not forget Creepy and I briefly going at it over Chernobyl Diaries.

I realize now I just wrote two different versions of the same paragraph. So be it.

The recording of this show last week was mostly an experiment to see if I could even make it happen for reasons I’ll explain at the outset of the show. That’s also why this will be the first Foycast without Uncle Creepy. Instead I’ll be joined by Dread Central’s own Matt Fini. That’s yet another thing I explain at the show’s outset. Because there was no guarantee the recording would even work (about 13 minutes of it had to be scrapped in post due to audio issues), Fini and I went into this with almost no game plan and somehow still managed to fill over an hour and a half. You do realize you could watch an actual movie in the time it will take you to listen this show?

Topics discussed include a brief discussion of last week’s “Piranhacontroversy”, Fini and I review the modern day Golan-Globus commando flick Act of Valor, talk about insanely astronomical movie budgets and why they probably shouldn’t be wasted on movies like Battleship, I recount some unfortunate evening news sound bites, “graveyard love”, and a look forward at the major movie releases of 2013 that somehow dragged on far longer than I ever imagined it could when I brought up the topic.

So if you have about 95 minutes to waste - let’s be honest, if you’re willing to listen to this and count the number of times I say “umm”, you truly are wasting them - here it is: the 11th Foycast over one year in the making.

On this edition we'll debate the merits of The Cabin in the Woods and Dark Shadows.

We'll discuss in depth Wrath of the Titans, Mother's Day, The Asylum's Air Collision, Area 407, and - somehow - the awful and thankfully obscure 1995 Denise Richards/Paul Walker sci-fi comedy Tammy & the T-Rex.

Seriously. Tammy & the T-Rex... How do we get on these tangents?

We also briefly touch upon The Hunger Games, The Raven, The Raid: Redemption, The Avengers, Lockout, and more.

Plus, we learn about Matt Fini's aforementioned hatred of pants, Buz's love for wearing bathrobes in public, Steve's pendulum conundrum, and I explain why you're only allowed to enjoy either The Avengers or The Dark Knight Rises but not both.

Myself, Uncle Creepy, Matt Fini, Buz, and (for about a half-hour) Andrew Kasch have returned for a Dinner for Fiends that might leave you with indigestion of the mind.

Everything starts off fine as we discuss in spoiler-y details the season finale of “The Walking Dead”. That’s when I make the grave mistake of bringing up the outrageous online meltdowns people are having over the ending to the video game Mass Effect 3, and suddenly the show turns into a Matt Fini therapy session. You’ll hear in painstaking detail why this game broke Fini’s heart and left him a bitter, broken shell of a man.

Then the technical difficulties begin as Space Baby tries desperately to remind me why I continue to be no fan of Skype.

But on the plus side, I think this might be the first DFF in ages that is 100% rape-free.

From there the Amanda Seyfried serial killer flop Gone gets spoiled, as does the Halle Berry shark dud Dark Tide, even more so the indie chiller ATM. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance gets burned as well. You’ll also hear our thoughts on the trailers for Dark Shadows and Prometheus. We’ll top it off with some viewer mail for dessert.

What you're about to listen to came within a hair of being a lost episode. For whatever reason we were riddled with technical difficulties, which led to Buz nearly killing himself cutting together the original recording with Foy's back-up recording. Yes, the Foywonder saved the day. It took over a week but Buz managed to Frankenstein it together for you. Yes, you will hear the occasional weirdness and interference. Who would have ever thought that Creepy opening up the show asking if any of us have seen The Human Centipede 2 would spiral into a raucous half-hour debate over… You know what; just listen for yourself. It could be the most offensive 30 minutes in DFF history. It most certainly ranks amongst the most unlikely conversations in podcast history.

Then, after a few short minutes of Batman: Arkham City discussion, Andrew Kasch gets swallowed in the abyss and our esteemed editor makes his presence known from his own Halloween black hole filled with piss and vinegar.

Then ... the bird arrives, Creepy forgets we’re even still recording, and it all turns into a weirdly R-rated retelling of Edgar Allen Poe’s classic short story.

Fuck the raven, nevermore!

This edition opens with me ranting about Dylan Dog: Dead of Night and BloodRayne: The Third Reich and ends with me rewriting Dr. Seuss, so that alone should tell you some of what to expect. From there we’ll voice differing opinions on the merits of Scream 4 and Insidious. Somewhere in there we acknowledge the existence of Priest. You’ll hear the sad tale of the agony experienced watching the new Hellraiser sequel and how the latest Children of the Corn sequel isn’t that bad, possibly because it has next to nothing to do with children or corn. Plus there's talk of Troll Hunter, Stake Land, The Skin I Live In, “Dexter”, the season finale of “Supernatural”, and some LA Noire love along with the return of viewer mail – deeply confusing viewer mail.

This is all in addition to the usual ball-busting we give each other. Matt Fini accepts ribbing for his Halloween: Curse of Michael Myers review but makes no apologies for his love of the Howling sequels. I struggle to keep my Dracula “thousands” straight, and Buz potentially gets murdered by angry Mexicans. And who doesn’t want to hear tales of Uncle Creepy and Doug Bradley drunkenly exchanging gay sex Hellraiser jokes?

This show is so jam-packed from start to finish I can’t even begin to list it all. Just listen before we send John Lithgow to your house to bathe you.

Actually, the baby rape has to do with a fairly lengthy debate as too whether A Serbian Film goes to far. What? You didn't think we would actually advocate raping babies? Hey, it may be called Dinner for Fiends but we're not that fiendish.

Beware spoilers ahoy as Uncle Creepy, Matt Fini, Andrew Kasch, Foywonder, and Buz as we engage in boisterous discussion about the craziness of Anthony Hopkins in The Rite, the craptacular Season of the Witch, the wretchedness of The Roommate and Beastly, the strangeness of Rubber, the awesomeness of I Saw the Devil, the pros and cons of Battle: Los Angeles, and the unheralded unintentional comic masterpiece that is Red Riding Hood.

Plus, as special bonus attraction, Uncle Creepy and Matt Fini whip out their knives and duel to the death over whether Drive Angry 3D was fantastic or utter garbage. Two men enter. Two men leave. Kind of a letdown now that I think about it.

Yeah, I realize it's almost March of 2011, a little late to be doing a worst of list for last year. It wouldn't be a Foyeurism if it was actually recorded in a timely manner. That this one got recorded at all was a triumph unto itself. So join Uncle Creepy and yours truly as I laugh and vent for about an hour over the ten direct-to-DVD horror movies that stole precious minutes from my life that someday on my death bed I will so very much wish I had back.

Plus we have actual sound bites from some of the skewered films, the fun of getting quoted out of context on DVD releases (I have since been informed that the UK Asylum release I speak of was not the case after all), why bad movies that know they're bad aren't nearly as much fun as bad movies that aren't designed to be so, and a very special appearance by freight trains.

It's the better late than never tenth edition of the Foycast. Listen if you dare (or have absolutely nothing better to do with your life). It's a countdown of sorrows this time round. Enjoy!

Over an hour of audio for your ears to choke on. You'll hear about stomach viruses, computer viruses, my video collection, and how certain indie horror films are sucking my will to live. That will lead into the annual listing of the worst DVD horror movies of the past year. I'll even leave all of you as speechless Uncle Creepy was when I conclude the podcast with a dramatic reading from a schlocky book from my past. You ain't heard nothing yet!

Things get off to a slow start as Uncle Creepy and I do the usual explanation as to what the heck took so long in getting a new Foycast recorded, a discussion during which you'll probably hear more about stomach viruses than you ever wanted to from either of us.

Then I just randomly read off the titles of some of the videos in my VHS collection. This part admittedly is not as entertaining as it could have been because I spent most of that segment desperately trying to belch. If I sound a little short of breath during that portion, it's because I was drinking a Pepsi as we began the show and experienced that sensation when you really, really, really want to belch but you just can't. I hate that. You have no idea how close you all came to hearing a Godzilla-sized belch on the air.

The soda-induced gas finally passes in time for what many of you have been bugging me about for weeks: the annual top ten of the worst direct-to-DVD horror movies of 2009. It's an eclectic mix of old and new, American and foreign, low budget and no budget; and in a shocking turn of events, not a single Asylum production makes the list this year.

Wrapping it all up is something truly special, something never before done on a Dread Central podcast, something that will blow your minds. A dramatic literary reading by yours truly! Bad cinema gives way to schlocky literature as I read a passage from a very special book from my past. I've done some poetry in past podcasts but never anything quite like this.

So sit back and enjoy the eighth installment of the Foycast. Opening the show is a musical salute to that most noble warrior of the poultry kingdom in the form of the majestic theme song to the 1983 cockfighting cinema classic Rooster: Spurs of Death. Truly the proudest bird I know.
