Shooting for the Brandon Routh starrer Dead of Night, based on the wildly popular Italian comic Dylan Dog, gets under way today in New York, and THR is reporting that Oscar-winning effects man Greg Cannom has joined the production to handle makeup effects.

Awake Director to Pen Atlantis Rising?

This morning we’ve come one step closer to seeing Platinum Comics’ Atlantis Rising realized as a film. THR reports that Awake (DVD review) writer/director Job Harold is being courted to write the film for Dreamworks.

Dead of Night Ready to Roll?

Sure, Watchmen and other big name comic book adaptations may be getting all the press, but the one I am looking forward to the most isn't full of spandex, it's the upcoming Dylan Dog adaptation, Dead of Night.

More Dead of Night Details

With Dylan Dog finally headed to the big screen under the U.S. title Dead of Night, one has to wonder if it will pave the way for other iconic comic book characters who fight monsters. I’m thinking a Cal McDonald movie would be very nice…

Downey Playing Cowboys & Aliens?

With Iron Man raking in money hand over fist, still, I’m sure one of the big questions in Hollywood is something we’ve not heard in a long time; what is Robert Downey, Jr. doing next? Other than the inevitable sequel(s), it looks like it might be the long-gestating adaptation of Cowboys & Aliens.

Platinum, Vanguard Prep Illegal Aliens

Vanguard Animations and Platinum Studios have decided to join forces to form a new, multi-platform media group called Vanguard Comics, according to Variety. Their goal is to develop properties that can be launched as comics, graphic novels, and feature films, starting with the chupacabra story Illegal Aliens.

Witchblade Teases

Well, at least we know the creators of the new Witchblade movie are sticking true to the comic's sexy roots, if this teaser poster is any indication. Since there's been no casting that I've heard to date, I'm guessing the fine female donning the titular gauntlet is just a model, but they sure have the right idea! There's also an official Witchblade site where you can sign up for updates in existence as well. Keep it here for more soon!

Witchblade the Movie?

Ah, God, here we go again. Someone out there wants to bring Witchblade to the big screen, though I really can’t understand the enduring popularity of this comic.

Lead & Director Set for Dead of Night

From comics to film back to comics and now on to film again, Dylan Dog just will not die. Though It can’t seem to keep its title in place for some strange reason.

Dreamworks Fights Back Atlantis

Imagine if one day, for no discernable reason, Atlantis finally decided to make its way back to the surface and kick our land-dwelling asses. Such is the premise (well, sort of) for Platinum Studios' Atlantis Rising, which The Hollywood Reporter learned has been bought up by Dreamworks for a live-action adaptation.

New Director for Dylan Dog

Here's a bit of odd news: Last year we heard that the live-action adaptation of the Dylan Dog comics was going to be directed by Snakes on a Plane helmer David R. Ellis (“Dylan Dog is Superman?!” – October 2007), but all that looks to have changed.

Dylan Dog is Superman?!

The fellows over at Comic Book Resources got wind of the news regarding who would be playing the lead role in a big screen version of the Italian comic book Dylan Dog. News of the casting was leaked to the Lying in the Gutters column of the site.
