Just about everyone with a pulse agrees Pitch Black was pretty damned badass, but its sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick? Not so much. The main reason was because most of the first film's flavor was left at the door in order to get the flick a more friendly PG-13 rating. After checking out the very first script review, we don't think we'll be worrying about a repeat of that scenario.

Thus far everything we've heard about the third Riddick film has been pretty damned good. Especially that director David Twohy is looking to go back to the grittier badass feel of Pitch Black instead of the more friendly feel of the second flick. And now comes some concept art that features one of the film creatures!

More details are coming in from the European Film Market regarding David Twohy and Vin Diesel's return to the Riddick universe! Looks like the interstellar badass will once again be taking on monsters! Saints be praised!

Finally! We've been talking about it for a while now, but man, does it feel good to get concrete word! Please redeliver us the no nonsense badass who wouldn't think twice about cuttin' your throat from ear-to-ear that we got in Pitch Black!

The original Pitch Black is probably one of our all-time favorite sci-fi/horror hybrids here in the Dread Central offices. The second one with its neutered PG-13 rating .... not so much. We're all praying the third time's the charm for an R-rated return to form for the Vin Diesel franchise, and the actor himself just dropped a pretty interesting little tidbit!

While chatting recently with GameSpot about the upcoming release of The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena game, Vin Diesel had an opportunity to provide some info on whether or not we’ll be seeing him on the big screen as Riddick anytime soon.
