Dane Granger Battles Personal Demons in New Teasers

Horror movies and thrillers with an emotional slant are what I seek out more often than not these days. While I still love a steady dose of gore and mayhem — that’s an itch I’ll always need to scratch — I find myself drawn more to dark dramas that were obviously inspired by something personal in a writer or director’s life. When it’s done right, the results are always powerful.
And while I don’t personally know the creatives behind the upcoming thriller Dane Granger, it’s obvious that directors Stephanie Hensley and Bryan Jolliffe are trying to tell a story that’s rooted in emotion. Granted, there’s plenty of sex and violence to keep genre fans happy, but that’s obviously not the crux of the film. Or maybe I’ve completely read these teasers wrong. That’s always a very real possibility. It wouldn’t be the first time, and it certainly won’t be the last.

Dane Granger is a 25 year old lesbian from a small town in Indiana who has always dreamed big. She reaches for the stars and happened to fall hard for the hometown sweetheart Grace Harper. Grace has demons. Dane has demons. And their demons are hellbent on destroying each other. Dane slips into madness and heartbreak in this self discovery story. Falling in love can be the most painful experience in life. “Madness is the symptom, love is the disease.”
