‘We Need To Do Something’ Interview: Pat Healy on Playing a Deranged Dad and Filming During Lockdown

We Need To Do Something

We Need To Do Something, the debut feature of director Sean King O’Grady, was an immediate hit coming out of this year’s Tribeca Film Fest. The script is based on the novella of the same name by Max Booth III about a dysfunctional family trapped in their bathroom during a massive storm. The film stars Pat Healy (The Innkeepers) and Vinessa Shaw (Hocus Pocus) as two warring parents trying to keep their kids from losing all hope. Sierra McCormick (American Horror Stories) stars alongside them as their spirited daughter Melissa who may be the cause of whatever unspeakable madness is happening outside.

In a recent video interview, I spoke with Pat Healy about his character’s struggle with alcoholism, his delightfully unhinged performance in We Need To Do Something, and that time he guest-starred as a vampire running a pyramid scheme in season 2 of Angel. In addition, Healy reminisced about the heavy prosthetic makeup he wore as an alien prisoner in Star Trek: Enterprise.

Speaking to Dread Central from the set of Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, Healy also noted how fortunate he’s been to appear in films directed by Steven Spielberg, Werner Herzog, and Paul Thomas Anderson.

Synopsis: Seeking shelter from a storm, a family finds itself trapped for days with no sign of rescue. As the days pass, an untold evils lurks just beyond the walls.
