As you guys are well aware, we've been following the progress of Paramount's "Demand It" campaign for Paranormal Activity closely, and today we got an update.
You wanted it. You demanded it. Paramount has listened. Dread Central and Bloody-Disgusting have just gotten an exclusive letter from the director of Paranormal Activity (review here), Oren Peli, with some very good news!
Dread Central was present at two of Paranormal Activity's midnight screenings this past week -- in Austin at Fantasic Fest and in Boston (read our report here) -- and preliminary box office numbers indicate the enthusiastic crowd reactions we saw were mirrored at every other location where it played. In addition, Paramount reports that the film's website has been "bombarded" with over 200,000 requests for additional screenings.
The first woman in line waited 5 hours. Those who jumped in behind her stretched down the alley, across the back of The Coolidge Theater, round the corner and down the street past the theater again ... and then even farther on down the road!
Did the free midnight screenings of Paranormal Activity (review here) pass you by? Is it not playing close enough to you? Well, here's your chance to do something about it!
With the limited release of Paranormal Activity finally coming this weekend, the LA Times has published a great article on the two-year journey the film has taken from inception to release, detailing everything from the possible remake to Steven Spielberg's "experience" with it to its bumpy road to distribution.

Those of you waiting anxiously to find out when and where you'll FINALLY be able to see Oren Peli's Paranormal Activity (review here) needn't wait much longer as we've just found out release plans will be announced
In an act of complete sanity in a truly insane film landscape, Paramount, the studio that landed Oren Peli's Paranormal Activity (review here), has lost interest in its plans to set loose a remake of the little film that could - scare the hell out of you
The excitement is building around Oren Peli's Paranormal Activity, and as a result there seems to be a new news story about it almost every couple of days. The latest one comes from the official Paramount website on a page which is no longer active (weird). On it, it stated the film would be beginning a limited theatrical run on September 25th.
