Open Road Unleashing Biblical Plagues in TestamentSome new plot details for Open Road Films’ latest acquisition, Testament, have leaked out, and we’ve got ’em for you here along with what was once the film’s original title. Wanna talk about eye-rollingly bad? Try this one on for size…

The flick was originally known as TE5T4M3NT, and we thank the video gods that cooler heads and the powers-that-be dropped the needless numerical values which would have no doubt somehow tied into some select passages within the Bible.

The supernatural thriller will begin production in March, with The Butterfly Effect helmer Eric Bress directing his script. Open Road will release the Voltage Pictures-financed film in early 2015.

The thriller takes place at a prestigious boarding school in a remote part of Texas and revolves around a science teacher and his students who are forced to fight for their lives when the Ten Plagues of the Old Testament descend on not only their town but the entire world. It starts with blood filling the school’s swimming pool — as fast as it fills rivers, lakes, and oceans worldwide — and that is followed by frogs, lice, wild animals, pestilence, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, and death of the first born.

Testament is a strong high concept story, and there is no one better to bring it to life than director–writer Eric Bress,” said Open Road’s CEO Tom Ortenberg. “Along with Nicholas Chartier and his team at Voltage Pictures, we anticipate the film will not only appeal to a wide moviegoing audience but that they will also be glued to their seats for what we expect to be an awesome thrill ride.

Synopsis
A teacher and his students are forced to fight for their lives as the Ten Plagues of the Old Testament strike not only their small town but the entire world. FROGS. LICE. WILD ANIMALS. PESTILENCE. BOILS. HAIL. LOCUSTS. DARKNESS. And finally the DEATH OF THE FIRST BORN.

As the outside world desperately races to uncover the cause of these phenomena, students and teachers alike must band together to find a way to survive what might be natural events rooted in science or unexplainable acts of divine intervention. Imminent doom may not build character, but it does reveal character — and teenage heroes are born as the world is coming to an end.
