The dead are coming. That's right, "The Walking Dead" will be kicking off Season 2 this Sunday, October 16, for a big ol' 13 episode run. And what better way to prepare for the event than to attend "The Walking Dead" panel at New York Comic Con this Saturday!

Honorary Academy Award recipient Roger Corman, who I believe has produced more movies than I've seen in my entire life, will make a rare personal appearance on Saturday, October 15th, at the Anchor Bay Entertainment Booth at the 2011 New York Comic Con in support of the new documentary Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel.

Award-winning graphic novel publisher Archaia Entertainment has announced a November release for the highly anticipated graphic novel Everlast, written by television and film actor Chad Michael Murray ("One Tree Hill", The Haunting in Georgia); however, if you're attending this coming weekend's New York Comic Con, you can snag an early copy ... signed by Murray himself!

A couple of stories regarding AMC's "The Walking Dead" crossed our desk this morning. First up is the series' Spread the Dead Avatar Generator on Facebook, which gives you the chance to see what you'd look like as a zombie or a survivor. Next is a peek at "The Walking Dead Comic Officer Rick Grimes - Bloody Version" figure McFarlane Toys will be selling exclusively this weekend at the New York Comic Con.

By this time next week the 2011 New York Comic Con will be wrapping up for another year, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves -- there are panels to see and toys to buy first! Here's a look at the horror highlights along with a few other genre-related appearances that should be of interest to our readers.

ABC’S upcoming series "Once Upon a Time" will take the stage at New York Comic Con on Friday, October 14th, with creators/executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz participating in a screening of the pilot followed by a moderated Q&A panel and autograph session.

The New York Comic Con, which runs October 13-16 at the Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan, is quickly approaching so look for updates on panels and other events taking place during the con over the coming days. Robert Kirkman, the Eisner Award-winning creator of The Walking Dead and Invincible, is the first guest to be announced for this year’s New York Comic Con, which will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City from Thursday, October 13–Sunday, October 16, 2011.

ReedPOP, organizer of the New York Comic Con, announced that the 2011 NYCC will be expanded to four days, which means more hours and opportunities for fans to interact with their heroes throughout the popular culture universe and allow expansion of the Cultyard and New York Anime Festival -- two shows-within-the-show -- which serve the burgeoning indie toy and anime/manga communities.
