When in the name of Jupiter's balls did this get made and how the hell haven't I heard of it until now? Looks like another Eighties classic is getting the old remake treatment courtesy of Sony Pictures and The Butcher Brothers, and guess what? It's landing on store shelves March 25th!
So how closely will it follow the plot of the original? Let's look at the official synopsis:
Each April Fool’s Day, fabulously wealthy young Desiree Cartier (Cole) hosts the most killer coming-out parties at her to-die-for southern mansion. And this social event is never complete without one of her patented pranks. But when this year’s joke turns deadly, Desiree, her brother Blaine (Henderson) and five of their friends all become the targets of a twisted killer who begins hunting them down one by one in this chilling tale of seduction, betrayal and revenge.
There's no word on DVD features as of yet, and normally I'd be pretty disheartened right about now, but I dig The Butcher Brothers. Their film The Hamiltons (review here) was one of the bright spots of the first After Dark HorrorFest, so for now anyway I'll give this a very slight benefit of the doubt.
Dig on the horrid box art below, and if you're curious enough, pre-order April Fool's Day from EvilShop!

That is a horrible DVD cover. They should have made the chick's hooters 3-D.

The DVD art looks like it came straight out of the '90s.

"fabulously wealthy young"
Ah modern remakes in a nut shell. Every remake has to have their characters either wealthy, young, fabulous, or all three if possible.
I'll pass, I didn't even like the original.
