Some updates with regard to the masterminds behind the upcoming six-episode revival of “The X-Files” have come in over the past couple of days, and we’ve gathered everything together for you right here.

First of all, per TVLine, original writers/producers Glen Morgan and James Wong are back and will each write and direct one episode.  Morgan will also serve as an executive producer alongside series creator Chris Carter.

Unfortunately, Vince Gilligan announced in a recent Reddit Q&A that he will not be involved in the revival, explaining, “I won’t be writing for the reboot, because my work on ‘Better Call Saul’ will keep me from doing that. I’m very sad to miss out, because I would love to have a hand in ‘The X-Files’ reboot. ‘The X-Files’ was my second favorite job ever, a close second to ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul,’ and I’d love to be a part of it. Rest assured, I will be watching it as a fan. I can’t wait to see it.”

Returning actors announced thus far include stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson (Mulder and Scully) plus Mitch Pileggi (FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner) and William B. Davis (Cigarette-Smoking Man).

“The X-Files” originally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes, and a Peabody Award.
