Art of Echos

Published

on

Echos art (click to see the whole thing!)How’s this for an intriguing premise: The Shining meets The Truman Show. Gives you all sorts of unnatural ideas, doesn’t it? Of course that could just be a fancy way of saying it’s about a reality show set in a haunted house, but somehow I doubt it’s that simple.

That combination is how the new film from French production outfit BR Films (whose first film, Frontieres, was apparently just scooped up for release here in the States) called Echos is being pitched. Twitch Film got the first word on it, as well as a huge pile of creepy looking production artwork, more of which you can see right here.

Rodolphe Guglielmi, who handled second unit work on Frontieres, will be in the director’s seat for Echos, which will be put out by an as-yet-unnamed US studio and feature an all US cast. I’m sure we’ll hear more on it soon enough, but for now let that mash of concepts play in your brain while you browse through the kickass artwork.

Will Stephen King’s THE LONG WALK Make a Good Movie?

Published

on

I often ask friends and family what Stephen King book they would like to see adapted for the big screen and 9/10 times they always answer The Long Walk. True story.

I have yet to read the book myself, which was published under King’s famous pseudonym Richard Bachman, but it is always high on my must-read list.

And I’d better get to it sooner rather than later as today we have word via THR that the book is being adapted into a film from screenwriter James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man, White House Down).

Vanderbilt will produce with Bradley Fischer and William Sherak and Mythology Entertainment’s Tracey Nyberg will executive produce for New Line Cinema.

Do you think Stephen King’s The Long Walk will make a good movie? Let us know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

Synopsis:

First published in 1979, Long Walk is set in a future dystopian America ruled by an authoritarian. The country holds an annual walking contest in which 100 teens must journey, non-stop and under strict rules, until only one of them is still standing alive to receive the prize. The story told of a 16-year-old walker named Raymond Garraty and the teens — some good, some bad, some mysterious — in his orbit.

There’s New Information About Universal’s DOOM Reboot

Published

on

Some fresh news about Universal’s Doom reboot has come across our paths that we’re excited to share with you. An anonymous source has told us that Tony Giglio (Timber Falls, Extraction, S.W.A.T. Under Siege) will be directing the film based on a script he wrote. Additionally, we’re being told that Amy Manson (Once Upon A Time, Being Human, The White Princess) has been cast as the film’s lead.

We’ve also heard that Autonomous FX will be doing special effects, makeup, and demon design. The company has worked on such films as Sinister, I Spit On Your Grave, Stan Against Evil, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and more. However, they will not be doing the actor’s makeup, which is being handled by a different department.

Elsewhere, Variety learned that the film is being handled by Universal’s non-theatrical division Universal 1440 Entertainment, which suggests the film is either going straight-to-video or it could go to a streaming platform, such as Netflix.

Doom will begin filming in the near future in Bulgaria.
