Horton Director Signs on for Hex

Now this is an odd turn of events; THR reported this morning that Horton Hears a Who director Jimmy Hayward has signed on to make his live action debut with the DC Comic adaptation Jonah Hex, which has been stagnant for a bit after the Crank directors departed the project.
The script was also penned by the Crank duo and features the disfigured lawman (still set to be played by Josh Brolin) getting mixed up in some kind of supernatural evil, and it’s likely Hayward will be working from it.
Horton Hears a Who was Hayward’s directorial debut, after working on everything from the Canadian cartoon “ReBoot” to Finding Nemo. Interesting to see him take such a horror-centric project as his first dip into the live action pool; I hope he’s up for the task!
