Andeson Talks Resident Evil 4, Castlevania Status

Paul WS Anderson talking about RE4As an early Christmas presents for fans everywhere, IGN got word today that Paul W.S. Anderson is currently working on the script for Resident Evil IV! It’s so exciting I can barely contain myself.

”Everyone at [game developer] Capcom has had their input into the idea and they’re all very excited. I don’t want to tell you what it is but it’s very exciting.” Anderson told the site. “The game is constantly [evolving] and so is the movie franchise. We’re doing it very much in conjunction with the developers of the videogame to give the audience something fresh but something that fits within the world of the videogame.”

All I want is more zombies and less superhero Mila. Is that asking too much? Anderson also stated that Castlevania, which he also wrote, is on hold for now until the SAG issues are straightened out and everyone can agree to play nice. I guess whatever keeps him from doing more Alien Vs. Predator film is all right with me.

Eh, whatever. Let him keep making stuff off video games, I say. Keep everything else away from him. I’m still slightly sad that he was able to remake “Death Race 2000.”

I’ll put my neck on the chopping block and say that Russell Mulcahy’s visual mastery made RE: EXTINCTION vastly better than it ever deserved to be.

So as far as I’m concerned Paul ‘What Script?’ Anderson should not even contemplate a continuation of the series without Russell Mulcahy’s involvement.

That Aussie master practically INVENTED the music video style that every other bastard is still ripping off to this day. So he deserves far more than directing DTV schlock like SCORPION KING 2.

He wrote Castlevania? Fuck. I was kinda looking forward to a cool guy-with-a-whip-verses-Dracula-movie. Van Helsing part 2, coming soon!
As much as I would love to see more zombie action in the RE movies, I really, really want to see an army of Milas running around tearing stuff up. If someone could do that right (heh) it would be the bestest movie evah!

Well, since the third RE movie was the first one in the series that was remotely close to actually being good, there might be room for improvement. Of course, it didn’t succeed completely because this man should still never be let near a script.

    One Anderson script travesty.”
