Unexplained Light Burst Seen In Russia – The Gasp Menagerie

The proliferation of dash cams, security cams, and smartphones has led to a seemingly never-ending stream of natural phenomena captured on video that was previously the stuff of eyewitness accounts and artists’ renderings. Fireballs, meteorites, and meteorological phenomena are now caught worldwide in a way we’ve never seen in history.

Tales on the Net about green fireballs, flashes of blue light, and similar events are old hat at this point. However, a story from RT tells a different tale. In southern Russia, near Stavropol, a massive flash of light was witnessed in March just after midnight one otherwise dark night.

A dash cam captured the flash, and it is on a scale far beyond what has been seen from standard natural phenomena. The video shows a brief but lingering flash at ground level some distance away. The flash was absolutely silent, although the intensity was bright enough to disturb witnesses already in their beds and cause light-activated streetlights in the city to deactivate as though dawn had come.

The story says that weather experts ruled out all natural phenomena, and electrical officials say that the power grid can’t be to blame.

What could have caused a flash of such intensity with no sound and no trace left behind? Local residents blame nearby military exercises; could a new weapon be to blame? Or could some source beyond our understanding have created the display?
