The Horrors of Sundance 2009

The Sundance Film FestivalOne of the biggest and baddest film festivals of them all, Sundance, just recently announced the full slate of movies for this year’s event, and in case you’re wondering what genre offerings will be there for consumption, we detail for you some of the highlights!

“>Grace, directed by Paul Solet
Starring Jordan Ladd, Gabrielle Rose, Samantha Ferris, Malcolm Stewart
Synopsis: Madeline Matheson (Ladd) has decided to have her baby, Grace naturally. Everything for the mother-to-be is going great until she’s involved in an accident during her eighth month that leaves her unborn daughter dead inside her. Refusing to give up she decides to carry her bouncing baby corpse to term, and miraculously upon giving birth the little scamp awakens with an appetite for something a little more visceral than Gerber products or breast milk.

Død Snø (Dead Snow), directed by Tommy Wirkola
Starring Vegard Hoel, Stig Frode Henriksen, Charlotte Frogner, Jenny Skavlan
Synopsis: This Norwegian import tells the story of a bunch of teenagers looking for a little fun in the snow. They have got everything they need to achieve this including alcohol, drugs, skis, oh and a battalion of Nazi zombies who are hungry for flesh beating down their doors. What could go wrong?

The Killing Room, directed by Jonathan Liebesman
Starring Chloe Sevigny, Peter Stormare, Clea DuVall, Timothy Hutton
Synopsis: After signing up for some thought-to-be harmless psychological tests four people end up finding out that they’re now playing a part in a nasty little classified government program. The film also stars Nick Cannon who will no doubt dole out a little psychological torment of his own on us viewers with his performance.

Moon, directed by Duncan Jones
Starring Sam Rockwell, Kevin Spacey, Matt Berry, Kaya Scodelario
Synopsis: After spending three years on the moon mining Helium 3 a precious gas that holds the key to reversing the Earth’s energy crisis Sam Bell (Rockwell) is finally getting his chance to go home. However, two weeks shy of his departure Sam starts seeing and hearing things. It then becomes apparent that the company he has been working for have some very unique plans on how to replace him.

You're such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be.

  • The Woman In Black

Grace is the one I can’t wait to see. The short was crazed — I can only imagine what the feature will be like!

  • What The Cat Dragged In

I saw some pics of “Moon” awhile back. It looks like it will be a very good film.

Not sure I can get behind anything with Nick Cannon in it, though, so I have reservations with “The Killing Room.”
