The Thief of Always coming to iPhone (click for larger image)Sitting backseat on a long Christmas road trip with the relatives has gotten a little more bearable with the glorious invention that is the iPhone and the plethora of apps, videos, music, and reading material it can carry along with it. UClick has just announced the brand new inclusion of the graphic novel version of Clive Barker’s The Thief of Always, now available to trundle up into your iPhone before you’re crammed into the backseat to trundle off to see Grandma.

The Thief of Always tells the tale of Harvey Swick, a seemingly average young boy trapped in the drudgery of public schooling who receives a visit from a peculiar and otherworldly stranger. This stranger, one Mr. Rictus, invites Harvey to a magical Holiday House that appears to be a virtual paradise; at least until the heavy price of staying there becomes more apparent.

The original version of The Thief of Always was released back in 1992, and the story was serialized into a graphic novel in 2005 by IDW Publishing, with the adaptation by Kris Oprisko and art by Gabriel Hernandez. The three installments that make up the tale are now available at the IPhone App Store for 99 cents a piece. I just need to crawl out of my Stone Age cave and actually get an iPhone first. Santa?
