Kyle MacLachlan Would Return To TWIN PEAKS If David Lynch Allowed It

Kyle MacLachlan is best known around these parts for playing the role of Special agent Dale Cooper in writer-director David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. And today, the actor confirmed he would play the role every day if Lynch allowed him to.
MacLachlan shared with ComicBook.com: “I think, first and foremost, this is the Twin Peaks that David Lynch wanted to make, and that makes me incredibly happy for him. That’s just a resolution that I think was a great, unexpected gift because I don’t think any of us ever anticipated Twin Peaks would be back. I’ve said in the past, I think the fans and the drumbeat of the fans and the recognition of what Sheryl Lee as Laura Palmer says, ‘See you in 25 years,’ it was like, ‘Okay, we’ll put up or shut up,’ and I think David and Mark found a way to come up with this story that made them both happy, and we gotta thank David Nevins at Showtime for putting it out there and for saying, ‘Yes, we’re gonna make this.”
He then added: “I would play Cooper every day if David would allow it. He’s such a great character. I am a fan of the show and I am a big fan of the character.”

For those who might not know, Twin Peaks is a crime drama mixed with healthy doses of the surreal, this series is about FBI Agent Dale Cooper, who travels to the small logging town of Twin Peaks to solve the murder of seemingly innocent high schooler Laura Palmer. Nothing is as it seems, however, and the show’s eerie visuals, oddball characters and wild dream sequences drive the point home.

The first season sports a 93% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Twin Peaks plays with TV conventions to deliver a beguiling — and unsettling — blend of seemingly disparate genres, adding up to an offbeat drama with a distinctly unique appeal.
